Sure, if you're a lefty you could just re-string a right handed guitar and play it but your bridge and intonation will be completely out of wack. You're really going to want to look for a nice quality left handed guitar.

Of course, one of the greatest guitarists of all time was a lefty - and he used the famous upside down trick...
